Losing a Child

I don’t think anything makes me happier than bragging on and talking about Brielle. I love her so much. My friend Emily, shared this link with me today and I think it rings true for me. I haven’t lost Brielle yet, but I do think of the days that will come when my little girl will be forgotten by others. That pain is deep and it terrorizes me. All I want for my baby is to be remembered, loved, I want her story to be shared. I don’t want her to be forgotten. I may break down and cry when I speak about her, or laugh as I remember how she would do things, I wont always know how I’ll react when people ask about her, but I want to be asked. I don’t want anyone to walk away and mumble an, “I’m sorry.” I’m sorry she’s gone, but I’m not sorry that I am her Mommy. I’ll never be sorry for the time I’ve had with her. I don’t want anyone else to be sorry either.

Lady & Sons

We had dinner at Lady and Sons, Paula Dean’s restaurant. David and I have been before, but my parents hadn’t, so we went. It’s one of those things you have to do once. Everyone enjoyed their meals, but of course I ordered shrimp, and Brielle hates shrimp. So two bites in I gave David my plate and ate some of the buffet that David had ordered instead.

One of my favorite things to do in Savannah is walk around the city and take it all in. So after dinner we talked and meandered our way towards the hotel. We had a very good time, and Brielle slept.

Savannah Shopping

After lunch, we had to go shopping, and on our way to Savannah Bee Company (to get some winter white honey and taste test all the honey) we passed this sign. Which Mom said Dad had to pose under (I’m fairly certain this is a joke that I’m not privy to). We then went to a couple of my favorite stores, Nourish (where I buy my favorite candle) and Paris Market (which is filled with all kinds of antiques and cool things). What did Brielle do? She slept, a full tummy, and shopping with Mommy generally does that to her.

Treylor Park

Saturday we met my parents in Savannah at a funky place called Treylor Park for lunch. Mommy and Brielle had a bite of Papa and Grandma’s grilled apple pie with chicken, it was tasty! We had PB&J wings, fried Oreos, a bite of Daddy’s sausage gravy chicken biscuit (very yummy!) and a burger with special kettle chips that Brielle loved.
